Prologue
'Good
morning DC! Your listening to 104.5, the buzz. Randy Manes here!'
My feet hit the gravel quietly as I ran down the pathway towards the Lincoln Memorial. Though it was six o'clock in the morning, there was already people walking and riding their bikes as the pink cherry blossom petals floated in the cool wind. My blue Ipod was tucked in my black track pants, and my ear-buds were circled around my ears, tucked neatly into them. My curly black hair bounced behind me.
'So in case you
haven't heard, we are having a competition tonight for a chance to win your own
night show, here, at the station. Two spots are left, so call now.'
I stopped in my tracks, my feet sticking and my hair blowing out in front of my face before settling down. Whipping out my phone, I quickly dialed the radio station, signing up for a spot.
My life has
been pretty hectic the past three weeks. Moving back home from college after
being kicked out for not being able to pay the bills, trying desperately to get
back into shape, and also trying to find a job. I don't like my parents paying
for the things I want. Even when it came to my college education. I didn't
allow for it.
Finishing
my run to the Lincoln Memorial, I turned back and ran to the parking lot
fifteen miles away, ready to go back home and get ready for the once in a
lifetime chance.
Too bad I
didn't know that it would be more trouble than it's worth.
